Library to host College and Transition Fair

21 Jul

The Webster Public Library is introducing a brand new event this summer, especially designed for people with developmental disabilities. It’s called the College and Transition Fair, and its goal is to support individuals with disabilities who will no longer get support from the school system for their services; to answer the vexing question, “What do you do when the bus stops coming?”

Among the more than two dozen organizations which will be represented are colleges that have programs for people with disabilities; those offering workforce development options; a few organizations looking for volunteers; some housing, dayhabs and support options, and more.

This will be a smaller event than the Diverse Abilities Resource Fair held in April, but is still a much-needed resource for those planning for the future.

The College & Transition Fair for People with Developmental Disabilities will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon inside the Webster Public Library, 980 Ridge Rd. (at the back of Webster Plaza). There’s no cost and you don’t have to register, but if you would like a reminder, click here to sign up.
